Herricks Hens Eggs 

Herricks Hens Eggs is a 5 family egg CSA supported by our truly free-range flock of heritage breed chickens.  Our 6 month egg CSA is currently full. Additionally, we often have extra eggs available in spring in our self-serve shed.  Pick up is in Jamesport only. $12/dozen. $240/full season share.

Our small home flock currently consists about 10 layers and a few roosters.  They are a mix of Buff Orpingtons, Black Copper Marans (chocolate brown eggs), Ameracauna (blue eggs), Black Australorps, Plymouth Barred Rocks, New Hampshire Reds, Cochins, Speckled Sussexes, Golden Laced Wyandottes, and Jersey Giants.  The flock is out all day, freely roaming our certified organic seven acre farm.  Even though the flock itself is not certified organic at this time (you cannot grandfather pre-existing livestock into your certification), the quality of the eggs our hens produce is unbeatable because of the quality of the life they lead on our farm.  Our chickens eat whatever suits their fancy, but they especially love bugs and kitchen scraps!  We feed them them a soy-free layer pellet, but much of their diet comes from foraging in fields and yard all day.  They have never been medicated for any reason.   Our hens spend every day being chickens.  They eat bugs, take dust baths, and lay us beautiful, delicious, nutritious eggs.
